What wire diameter should I choose for screening hard rock?

For hard rock screening, wire diameter should be matched to the feed size and impact force. As a general rule, if the feed contains large lumps and drops from height, use a thicker wire. For primary screening of hard rock, a wire diameter of 6mm to 10mm is typical. For secondary screening with smaller material, 3mm to 6mm works well. Undersizing the wire to save cost is a false economy. A mesh that is too thin will deform quickly, and the downtime cost of replacing it far exceeds the savings on the initial purchase.
