Can crimped wire mesh be used for wet screening?
2026/09/16
Yes, and it actually performs better than many people expect. The pre-crimped structure maintains opening accuracy even when the mesh is wet and carrying slurry. The key is material selection. For wet screening with neutral water, SS304 is fine. For acidic or high-chloride slurry, go with SS316L. Also, the wire diameter should be slightly thicker than for dry screening, because wet material is heavier and puts more load on the mesh. A common mistake is using the same specification for both dry and wet applications, which leads to premature sagging.
